52 Weeks Of Color Challenge ~ Week 8!

Here I am, posting Week 8 of the 52 Weeks of Color Challenge, which means that I have been taking pictures and blogging them for 2 months now. For many people that isn't a lot of time, but the truth is that I've made attempts to start a blog on multiple occasions and as I mentioned in my very first post, I have never really followed through. I know it might sound a little silly, but I really have to thank Luna Jubilee (www.lunajubilee.com) for setting forth this challenge and figuratively lighting a fire under my butt to do this and keep at it without letting the ball drop. This week's color was a nice change from the flirty bright colors as it was a deeper hue, Dark Raspberry. Looking at the swatch for next week though, the sunshine isn't staying away for too long. ;) I did my entry a little different than my last ones because my mind sparked and I knew how I wanted to execute this look. 52 Weeks Of Color Challenge ~ Week 7!

Here we are, halfway through February already in the year 2012. It seems so weird to think about that in respect of the bigger picture, how far I have come and yet how far I have still to go in this amazingly expansive world of ours. I'm a little late on this week's edition of the 52 Weeks of Color Challenge, but I haven't allowed myself to get even a full week behind so I am still doing pretty well in the grand scheme of things. I hope everyone had a fantastic St. Valentines Day whether you participate and celebrate it or not, and I wish the best of the rest of the week to you all. 

This week's color hue was a little bit difficult for me because when I looked and looked and looked again at the swatch, I was a little puzzled on just how to the pink tone was to present itself. The tone is called Folly, and I studied it for quite a bit of time trying to decide if it was pink mixed with red or pink mixed with orange or maybe even pink mixed with something in the peach family. I knew for sure that I wanted to use the brand new group gift from Mynerva (I know, I posted a blog about a new one in my last post, but there's ANOTHER one!) because it is so smooth and pretty and it comes with these super cute white dots on the cheeks. It's a preview for a skin that is going to be released called Milena and while the group gift only comes in the Cream tone, I am sure if you keep your eyes peeled for the full release there will be a shade that you fall in love with. Rhapzody was SUPER generous with this gift and included handfuls of tattoo layers for the different makeup options so you don't have to settle for using the whole face of makeup if it's not your style. If you haven't already, go now to Mynerva and pick up this group gift, it's so girly and exciting to play with! For my color pieces of the week I finally went down to RezIpsa Loc (I am really loving her store by the way, the stuff is always so cute and well detailed!) to get some things made especially for the color challenge and chose a couple things that I already had in my inventory to pair those elements with. The result was a pretty fun and sweet outfit that I hope you all enjoy as much as I did putting it together! :)

OMG Mynerva!

I know it's not normal for me to have more than one post in a day, but I heard some VERY exciting news today and I wanted to share it with everyone! I am sure a lot of people already know, but for those of you who don't: Mynerva's Group is OPEN again! Owner Rhapzody Wilde was not in SL for quite a while due to RL reasons, but she has returned and opened the group with a BRAND NEW group gift! She has also changed the store up some and there is now a bargain basement with some of her older skins available for a greatly reduced amount! (The Elsie skins are only 10L and 30L for a fatpack!) The new group gift is called Sara Pure and it's only available in the Champagne tone. She is a very pretty and smooth skin with sprinklings of freckles across the whole body, the face is so sweet and light that it is the perfect fit for spring! Rhapzody also promises that there will be more newnesss to come in the near future! (Though there may be a little delay due to her moving in RL soon.) Little Mesh Dress

It's not time for a challenge post or anything like that, but even before I logged into SL today I felt like putting together a look and blogging it! I love when I get that little perk to do a post and I really can pull the idea in my head and make it into a great look. The dress I am wearing is from Aura, and it's mesh. I know, I know..mesh is everywhere now and I am a little slow to get on the wagon with it, but I really am loving playing with it and seeing how it is advancing items within SL. Luna Jubilee recently proposed a mini challenge called the Love Challenge, where you focus on the love and good things in your SLife! I immediately decided that I wanted to take part because as Luna said, a lot of blah and drama have been floating around lately and I wanted to do my little bit to liven things up and spread some happiness. 52 Weeks Of Color Challenge ~ Week 6!

Welcome to February everyone! It's time for another entry to the 52 Weeks of Color Challenge, and this weeks color is Alice Blue. I know we had a blue family color last week, but this one is a lot softer and was really fun to play with. After putting my look together, I realized that I was wearing a LOT of {mon tissu} clothes this week, and while I haven't worn a lot of their products before, I am really happy with the way the outfit fits and the overall look on my avi. 52 Weeks of Color Challenge ~ Week 5!

I am finally caught up with the 52 Weeks of Color Challenge (check http://lunajubilee.com/2012/01/01/52-weeks-of-color-challenge-champagne/ in case you don't know what it is yet or want to join in!) and I am so excited about moving forward with it. I was actually pretty proud of myself for getting the picture for this week done AHEAD of the scheduled time and I am blogging it on time! The color for this week is a shade called Patina. If a swatch had not been listed on Luna's blog I would have had absolutely no clue what it was and in talking to other friends they were pretty perplexed as to where it fit on the color wheel. I searched for it on the marketplace but with only 9 results in the women's apparel category total, I knew it was time to TP around and  see if any of my favorite stores were carrying the hue. I got super lucky when I landed at RezIpsa Loc (I love her work and she is SO nice!) and saw that she was actually making items specifically for the challenge! I didn't use her featured item but I did grab up the nails she had to go with and then I compared as I hopped around to a couple different stores until I was happy with my finds. Week three of the Color Challenge brought the color Electric Indigo. Now I had NO idea what to do for this color and I pondered over it for more than an hour before I thought about my SL daughter/RL friend Honor and it all immediately popped into place! 52 Weeks of Color Challenge!

One thing that I have never really tried (maybe due to lack of motivation or laziness) in the SL world is to create a blog and keep up with doing entries on it. I have started a few in the past but a couple posts in I usually either forget about it or decide I don't have anything worthwhile to talk about so I don't get anywhere. When I heard that Luna Jubilee (www.lunajubilee.com) was doing a second running of her 52 Weeks of Color Challenge, I thought that perhaps it was the perfect opportunity for me to start a new blog and have a good reason to post as least once a week! I will hopefully be doing more posts than just the color of the week ones, but that is definitely a good motivator to not forget that this blog is here. Wish me luck!

Week one of the Color Challenge featured the color Champagne. I was slightly disappointed to find that I didn't really have too much in my inventory that fit with the color that was designated, so I set out on a shopping trip! After a little searching I found a cute pair of high-waisted pants in the exact color of the challenge assignment and went to work. I think I did pretty well for never having been involved in one of these challenges before, and below you'll see my end picture that I submitted to the Flickr group for the challenge.

Blog Post #1! :)

I never really planned to be addicted to a 'computer game'. But somehow over almost 3 1/2 years, I am still involved and dealing with the day to day happenings that occur on the virtual grid that is Second Life. I have made a few different avatars over that time and explored what SL (as Second Life is known for short) has to offer, everything from adult hangouts with R-rated material to the deeply developed world that involves children and family. I've met people who have changed my life in more ways that I can count, and I am better and worse for it. I have seen the innocence and joy in a child's eyes even though I knew the person behind the cartoon was a grown adult and I have also felt the pang of heartbreak after allowing myself to feel love and losing it. Even through all of the experiences and the sometimes drama that comes along with the 'game', I find the time in my life nearly everyday to log in and spend time with the friends I have gathered over time and enjoy all the beauty that our minds allow us to create in this digital platform. This blog was created with the intent to show people how I live my SLife and the people that mean a lot to me in it. There will most likely be posts from different perspectives as I have avatars that range from child to adult, but I hope to do my best to showcase all that my SL holds. Enjoy, and happy SLife! :)
